In the last two decades, the world has battled a number of global pandemics such as HIV/AIDS, SARS, H5N1, MERS, Ebola, Zika and the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. As we speak, the COVID-19 continues to disrupt every aspect of our socio-economic living and raises questions about how prepared governments and society are to address a prolonged infectious disease crisis, in particular, developing countries. The spread of COVID-19 is likely to continue and the world may have to live with it for some time. The question we seek to address today is how do we cope with COVID-19 and a future pandemic.
